My skin for most of the year is fairly tame, with only an occasional spot or red patch. However, during mid-Autumn and mid-Spring when the weather changes my skin takes a few weeks to adjust, and this can lead to an excess of oil being produced and breakouts appearing. I can get spots pretty much anywhere on my face, but they tend to be most on my chin/side of my mouth, on or around my nose or (and this is the worst) slab bang in the middle of my forehead. This can be very annoying as I try to keep the products I use on my face quite light, but when I breakout I am forced to use a much heavier coverage foundation and concealer to hide them and then spend much longer cleansing my face to take this off every night. Luckily I have found some products that are amazing at dealing with breakouts. While I have yet to find a product that prevents the breakouts from happening in the first place, these three quickly and effectively get rid of spots.

The La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo has been a favourite of many beauty bloggers since 2012 when the internet went crazy for French skincare. Lots of people use this product in different ways; I have seen it used as a primer, moisturiser, target spot treatment, serum etc, the options are endless! I find for me that this product has a very specific purpose; most of the spots that I have are black heads/white heads, but occasionally a large red orb will appear under my skin that is very big and also very tender. I apply the Effaclar Duo to the under-the-skin spot and within a few days the spot will appear as a (rather large) white head. This is definitely a "it gets worse before it gets better" type product, but this white head will now disappear within a few days compared to before when the large, sore spot could have been lurking for weeks and causing a lot of pain.

For combating the every-day white or black head spot, nothing quite works as the award winning Super Spot Remover from Origins. This tiny bottle is filled with the most amazing gel that completely sucks the life from any living spot. It does take a little while to work; up to a week being applied day and night however it will leave absolutely no trace or scar. My only hiccup with this product is that it can dry your skin out a little and so be sure to exfoliate and moisturise any dry patches that may appear. However, if you are like me and your skin is oily a lot then this shouldn't be too much of a problem.

The final product is one that I have been using for years and am still in love with. It is a clay mask from the Body Shop. It cleanses the skin, controls oil and can be used as a treatment for problem skin. I use this mainly to control oils as it does the perfect job of managing to decrease the oils on my face while still leaving my skin soft and moisturised.
