Finding the perfect prom dress is a near-impossible task - for most teens it is their final blow-out after school before they split separate ways from their friends and they want to look as good as they can for their last ever #squad photos (at least, that's what I want!). For inspiration I have turned to some of my favourite young celebrities who are known for their red carpet style, and found inspired looks (and sometimes bang-on dupes) all under £100 to keep prom affordable.

This is the first in a series of posts I will be doing on prom - so far I have planned to write a tips/advice post on how to make prom affordable, a Red Carpet Prom Make-up Inspiration post and a highstreet (drugstore) affordable make-up tutorial for prom along with my own Get Ready With Me for my own prom which is in June, but please let me know in the comments if there are any other posts you want me to do on prom and I will happily do those for you!

This first look is of Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland at the Emmys last year. She is a personal style icon of mine as I am in love with her hair (it is my dream length when I go short this summer). I love her dress as prom inspiration for many reasons - the colour is beautiful but timeless and not too trendy that you may look back and regret it later, and the cut is the prefect balance of being appropriate for a school event but also a little bit sexy. I can't believe how similar the dress I managed to find for this was - it is the ASOS WEDDING Off The Shoulder Bardot Fishtail Maxi Dress. This retails for £75 which is by far the priciest dress on this list, however it is so beautiful and such a dead-on dupe for the Zac Posen gown Sarah was wearing on the red carpet.

Maisie Williams is not only known as one of the talented actresses from the extremely successful Game of Thrones franchise, but in the past few years has made a name as a style icon. She is always immaculately dressed, and this look from the AGS Awards last year is no different. The actress wore a beautiful red strappy guipure lace midi dress. In my online brose I managed to find two dupes for Maisie's look - the first being this skirt and crop top coord from Missguided. I love the soft grey colour and comfort of wearing a two piece. Together, this outfit only comes to £50. I also found this Guipure Lace Top from Zara that perfectly mimics the style of Maisie's own dress for only £25.99. It also comes in cream and black, but this green colour is so unusual yet has a delicacy that not all vibrant colours have. This top could be paired with a number of different style skirts, but personally I would recommend these stunning accordian pleat midi skirts from Topshop that come in almost every colour (here, here and here) which retail for between £32-£45.

Zoe Kravitz is the queen of cool. She is also the queen of simple, minimal and elegant dressing for red carpet events that is perfect if sequins and sparkles aren't your thing. While Zoe's daring plunge neckline that she wore to the Tribeca Film Festival this year may not be the most appropriate for a school event, this long camisole dress by Zara is the perfect alternative as it has a v-neck neckline without being too low, and the cut outs have a sheer covering of lace that make them slightly more modest. The perfect accessory to this minimal outfit is the miniature bucket bag as shown by Zoe. Again we have a budget-friendly offering from Zara with this Rock Bucket Bag that is an almost identical match to Zoe's black studded number. Both the dress and the bag retail for £39.99 each, considerably less than her high end get-up.

Lily-Rose Depp is not only the daughter of famous ex-power couple Vanessa Paradis and Johnny Depp, but is now a Chanel Ambassador and the face of the label's Pearl eyewear collection. Wearing a Couture Chanel coord at one of the brand's shows she looks perfectly put together and sophisticated but still with her signature effortless vibe. This ASOS Premium Bandeau Jumpsuit in Jacquard with Cutout Front is the same pastel blue shade and structured bandeau shape but for a fraction of the price of Lily's designer ensemble. This jumpsuit comes in at £70 making it one of the pricier items in this post, but the thick jacquard material and structured fit make it totally worth it. For accessories, take inspiration from Lily and wear a matching light blue choker, such as this one from Urban Outfitters.

Floor-length gowns aren't the only way to look glamorous for prom - check out Alexa Chung at this year's Met Gala. Inspired by David Bowie. she wore a kimono style blazer and trouser combo that was head-to-toe in sequin embellishments and crystals. True Decadence have an equally glam Plunge Front Embellished Palazzo Jumpsuit for only £28 in the Asos sale - grab this quick if you want to channel Alexa's style before it sells out!
